Egham U14s v Walton U14s

Egham won the toss and batted on a very dry surface making batting challenging. The going was slow with Walton bowling relatively accurately but Egham remained in tact ready for a late burst. Zak Pooley batted responsibly until he was retired at 30 late in the innings and this proved to be a vital knock. He was well supported by Noah Trend who probably executed the shot of the day through the covers. The innings picked up momentum when George Lee and Will Hamilton came together and started to put more pressure on the fielders with some more animated running between the wickets and they were then able to punish the bad ball. This pushed Egham's score to just over the hundred mark, which ordinarily is a below par score.

As always the true indication of how good a wicket is unfolds in the second innings. Egham then came to the fore with some incredibly accurate bowling from Dexter Elliot, Ed Marsh and Aadarsh Pusapadi placing Walton under pressure from the get go. The support bowlers were again accurate and particularly impressive was Micah Prior and Jonathan Makepeace bowling miserly spells.Fielding was generally good and this all lead to Walton falling well short of the target. Great performance from Egham with a thoroughly deserved win.
